During pregnancy, women’s bodies go through unique and often permanent changes to accommodate their growing baby. After giving birth, many women struggle to restore their pre-pregnancy bodies. This struggle can take a toll on the self-esteem of many moms, and diet and exercise can only take some women so far. The Mommy Makeover combines breast and body procedures that are specifically designed to treat the enhancement needs of moms.
Women considering a Mommy Makeover should be in good health and have realistic expectations about their results. If you need a Mommy Makeover, you may require correction for one or more of the following conditions:
A Mommy Makeover is performed as an outpatient procedure with the patient under general anesthesia. Dr. Cha customizes each Mommy Makeover to fit the unique needs of his patients. You may not require each procedure outlined in the Mommy Makeover. The goal of your procedure is to enhance your body and restore a more youthful, attractive you.
Breast augmentation is performed for women who have suffered a loss of breast volume following their pregnancy or who have always had small breasts and desire a size increase. Breast augmentation uses either saline or silicone implants to increase the size and improve the shape of your breasts. A variety of implant types and placements are available to help you achieve a natural breast appearance.
Breast lift surgery is ideal for women experiencing post-pregnancy breast sagging. The extent of correction needed will vary depending on your degree of ptosis. A breast lift may involve removing excess tissue and providing additional support to weakened breast tissue. A breast lift can be performed as a standalone procedure or in combination with a breast augmentation for patients with both volume loss and sagging.
An unattractive abdominal appearance can be the result of loose abdominal muscles and/or excess skin. While many women can lose the excess fat they accumulated during their pregnancy, little can be done through diet and exercise to correct stretched abdominal tissues. A tummy tuck can remove excess skin for a flatter belly, and it can tighten the abdominal muscles for a firmer contour.
Liposuction can treat excess deposits of fat that women can struggle to eliminate following their pregnancy. Liposuction is versatile, using vacuum suction to contour a wide variety of areas. Common liposuction treatment areas include the:
The length of your recovery will vary depending on the extent of correction required to achieve your results. You will experience swelling, bruising, and redness in your treatment areas. Oral pain medication will be provided to help ease any discomfort. Patients are required to rest for several days following their procedure. You may wear a series of compression garments if you undergo any body contouring procedures.
Most patients can return to work within one to two weeks following their procedure. You should be able to resume your regular exercise routine, with your doctor’s permission, after four weeks. Most major swelling should subside by six weeks, at which time your final results will become visible.
The Mommy Makeover provides patients with quality, long-lasting results. However, the life of body contouring procedures is dependent on your lifestyle following your surgery. To maintain your results, live a healthy lifestyle that includes diet and exercise. Additional pregnancies following your procedure may affect the quality of your results and are, therefore, not recommended.
Dr. Cha takes great care to place incisions in discreet locations that don’t result in extensive visible scarring. However, depending on your body’s natural healing process and the correction required to achieve your results, you may develop some mild scarring. Any scarring that does develop is likely to fade over time.
